The Conservative surge. How the hell did that happen?

This is ridiculous. Biggest political turn around for quite a while, and I'm at a wedding. I am of course referring to the England local elections for 2008. Labour have had a rather large slap in the face, winning only 24% of the votes. Even the Liberal democrats gained more votes (If only by 1% at 25%). And then there's the conservatives, with a massive 44% majority vote, and to add salt to the wounds, they gained London after 8 years of Labour control.

That's the most amazing part. Boris Johnson won!? It was just the day before, on the radio they were joking about him winning. The next day? I'm in the car, listening to the radio, and I hear he's in. And I wonder, how the hell did he manage it. Was it his straight talking persona, his cumbersome way with words that seems to insult everyone he comes into contact with? I don't get it! At any rate, being the "radical" I am, I'm a Labour supporter, so I am a little dis-heartened by this loss, but I can see why they lost. Everyone likes stability, and at the moment, Labour seems to want to rip itself apart, which is far from stable. And the conservatives have a charismatic young(-ish) man to stand behind, while Labour have a bear. Well, me being me, I can only make one prediction from this; Labour's not doing well, and they have 2 years to sort out this mess. I don't think they will, and then, comrades, the conservatives are on us, and you'll all see the real side of David Cameron!
